Mission 4 – The Invasion of Rockland

In our dark day of wondering,
He gave us Hidden Hope;
Our sacred duty calls us to return.
As our Father told us,
And his father before him.
Ours is the redemption of the Universe;
Ours is the paradise of Terra
Ours is the war of liberation.

-- The Remembrance, Passage 204, Verse 6, Lines 2-9

We have won the right to take Rockland. Our Comstar representative has informed me that there is quite a force on this planet. According to him, a full regiment is stationed on planet; possibly more. I can only think of the great glory there is to have in taking this world from them. There is an ancient Star League base that these surats have reinforced, let us relieve them of this treasure. Remember, they do not have the guidance of our father.

I have decided to give your force the honor of taking the star port. Do not disappoint me. The configurations I have given your unit should be more than enough to take the port. Additionally we must have the control tower intact. Leave this task to our Elementals.

I am sending in our fighters to take out the static defenses at the port. They will be available if you need their assistance, but I doubt you will. One recon photo was taken you will find it attached. Be aware of your objectives and try to not destroy the star port. It will serve our clan more with minimal damage.

Update: Expect mixed ‘Mechs and vehicles. While taking out the turrets defending the Star Port, our fighters spotted a lance of ‘Mechs and a few VTOLS holding the base. One stray shot hit an ammo dump, so be on watch for the ammunition scattered about. It is unprotected and could easily explode taking out anything in the vicinity.

Primary Objective: Secure Star Port for the Drop Ship landing. Sweep Star Port and eliminate all opposition port defenders. There is a 30 Turn time limit.

Secondary Objective: Deliver 1 full unscathed star of Elementals to take the control tower and administration buildings. There is a 15 Turn time limit.

Secondary Objective: Eliminate any reinforcements.

Additional Assets: Two Batu OmniFighters. Each is on patrol and is available for 2 strafes. If you call for a strafe you must call for it 1 turn ahead. Per fighter strafe the entire unit will lose 1/4 honor.

50 Elementals

Mission 3 - The Invasion of Richmond After Action Report

I think that it is fair to say that this was not the most difficult fight in the world for most of us, as these Inner Sphere surats proved to be less than capable in the face of our OmniMechs and superior technology—not to mention the innate power of a Trueborn Warrior. Despite their inferiority, and their disgraceful habit of calling us pirates, these warriors were at least honorable enough to answer the Batchall. I had feared that they would face us in the old ways, like the filth that the Father faced when he reclaimed our homeworlds after the second Exodus.
Time for some R&R

While the terrain was less than suitable—who knew that these Inner Sphere barbarians enjoyed such lush worlds—the use of our Active Probes made it possible to detect our hiding foes. This did not stop MechWarrior Keith from taking a lucky hit from a hidden Savannah Master and having his Gyro damaged. I sincerely doubt that this was anything but a mixture of luck and a clumsy technician; we should have the useless fool flogged and demoted to the labor caste. This was only the first in a string of bad luck, as I know that many of us suffered from malfunctions in our targeting gear and dud missiles, reducing what would have been crippling salvos into scratches and glancing blows.

Now Where Did Those Infantry Get To...
This was a good victory despite our troubles and we should be proud of our achievements, though it is true that MechWarrior Liam bit off much more than he could chew when he foolishly took on a heavier design. Perhaps he should remember to look at his load out before the mission, Quiaff? Speaking of which, we received a message from Galaxy Command, it is as follows:

Congratulations on your victory. I would say that it was hard fought but if these are the best warriors the Inner Sphere can muster then we should reach Terra in no time at all. Your Mist Lynx MechWarrior put up quite a fight. I wonder if he will bid as foolishly next time? A Kit Fox has become available if you wish to change out one of your units; I am giving your unit priority in the acquisition of this 'Mech. The Falcons tend to favor it over most lights, though I personally feel that it is too slow. It does tend to make up for the lack of speed with an increased armament. Your next conquest is located on the planet Rockland. I will let you know how the bidding goes.

This will prove another opportunity for glory! I will update you as soon as we receive the briefing from Galaxy Command. In the meantime, here is the honor board for this mission, your totals will be updated. I believe several of you have qualified for new skill selection and a chance to upgrade your Piloting—or to hold off and get your Gunnery improved.

Mission 3 Briefing - The Invasion of Richmond

Five are our foundation;
One above the rest.
Four are the steppingstones,
The fifth the pinnacle.
The laborer, the technician, the scientist, the merchant,
These are the stepping stones
To the warrior's place.
As the insect feeds the bird,
As the bird feeds the wolf,
As the wolf feeds the smoke jaguar,
So all give life to the warrior
Who Sheds his blood for their glory.

--The Remembrance, Passage 121, Verse 43, Lines 12-24

My Fellow MechWarriors,

I have great news. We have won our bid for the planet Richmond against the Ghost Bear Clan. The Bears feel we bid too low, but I know your unit is up to the task. We have bid only your binary to take the entire planet. Do not disappoint me.

The inhabitants have answered our Batchall. The 'Mech forces that defend this world are attached to this document, along with recon photos. Since this world has a large infantry training facility you should expect various vehicles and infantry. I have sent out a probe to scout the area you will be assaulting and have chosen your variants to best serve our goal. It would shame your unit and our clan greatly if you did not succeed in taking this world. Fight and bid well.

Mission 2 After Action Report

Warriors of Clan Smoke Jaguar, I believe I speak for all of us when I say that this was a good first blooding. We have proven ourselves superior to the Nova Cats, even with some down to the wire bidding, and earned great honor for ourselves. Our binary kill board has been updated with our latest accomplishments. I do not think I need to recount you all with the tales of your own duels, for they are no doubt engrained in your memories, but there are some highlights that deserve our acknowledgement.

Stuck in the Middle with you
While most of the battle was very even, with both sides savaging one another, the most notable hit would have to be MechWarrior Tom beheading his target with a well aimed blast; easily the most decisive shot of the engagement. This was made more enjoyable as he had spent a good deal of time engaging his opponent as the Mad Dog and Kit Fox were dueling on either side of him.

Leave me alone!
The constant back and forth between MechWarrior Liam and his target Dasher, making repeated laps up and down the hill, proved entertaining for the first few rounds in a strange parody of Tag. MechWarrior Jeromy almost knocking himself unconscious when the Adder managed to slam several shots into him proved amusing.

Even with all of this, we must remain humble. This message was sent to us shortly after our victory and is as follows:

True Born Warriors of Clan Smoke Jaguar,

Congratulations on a well fought victory. Not only did you embarrass the Nova Cats, you did not lose a single unit. Khan Leo Showers even approved of your victory but was disappointed by the way one of your warriors fought. He suggested that the warrior may need to be reminded why Smoke Jaguars are the fiercest warriors the Clans have to offer, and why warriors are the pinnacle of the castes. He sent a reminder message for you all. -- The Remembrance, Passage 121, Verse 43, Lines 12-24 I suggest you review it.

The Khans have finished their deliberation and have chosen the corridors each of the Clans will follow on our path to retake Terra. The Clans that will have that honor are Smoke Jaguar, Ghost Bear, Jade Falcon and the Wolves. We have the honor of taking a direct path through the Draconis Combine. Remember to review your history on these surats.

These freeborns believe that they are warriors. Lets show them what trueborn warriors are capable of. I personally refuse to acknowledge these pilots as MechWarriors, in my eyes they do not deserve to set foot in a ‘Mech except to clean it. Do not allow a single Combine ‘Mech pilot to escape with a ‘Mech that could be used to further aid our cause.

Leo Showers was evidently more impressed with your trial against the Nova Cats than I thought. He believes your fight was the final blow that silenced the Wardens for good. As a reward he has given your unit a great honor. Your binary will be included in the invasion as part of Tau Galaxy. You will be a unique unit, instead of adding your units to form a full trinary, your binary will be added to the already formed galaxy. Also our Khan has given Tau Galaxy the honor of retaking one of the first planets on our path. Richmond will be one of the first worlds we will retake. I will inform you how the bidding against the Bears goes. Hone your skills our path to realize our great fathers vision starts now.
